Part of Springerville, Eagar, Greer & Alpine, our guide to Round Valley and the high country east of Show Low.
The Greer Lakes are three small trout reservoirs just north of Greer at about 8,260 ft: River, Bunch and Tunnel, each reached from Forest Road 87B off State Route 373, about 45 minutes from Pinetop-Lakeside. River Reservoir, the largest, sits behind an 1896 dam.

The Lakes
| Lake | Acres | Dam | Rules (2021 guide) |
|---|---|---|---|
| River Reservoir | 164 (dam record) | 1896 | Trout catch-and-release Oct. 1-Apr. 30; motors to 10 hp; also carp and yellow perch |
| Bunch Reservoir | Small | 1929 | Electric motors only; 4 trout a day |
| Tunnel Reservoir | About 39 (USGS map) | — | Electric motors only; 4 trout a day |
Game and Fish lists rainbow and brown trout in all three. Sizes differ by source (the dam inventory gives Bunch 27 acres, the USGS map about 80), so check before you plan a boat trip. An Arizona fishing licence is required.
Getting There
From the SR 260 and SR 373 junction, go south on SR 373 for 3 miles and turn left on Forest Road 87B; each lake is off that road. Rolfe C. Hoyer Campground is across the highway ($24 a night, May to October).
What We Could Not Verify
- Current lake levels, and current fishing regulations (we read the 2021 Game and Fish guide).
- A Forest Service page for the lakes (none found).

Every pin here is an estimate, not a surveyed point. A place pin marked "estimated by eye" is our own guess at the spot (a lake, park or town middle); the others use a point from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors) for the named spot, which can still be off by a few blocks. Event pins sit at the center of the event's town, because we do not have each venue's exact spot. Distances are straight-line, rounded, and will not match driving miles. Dots sit in their compass direction; distance is stretched near the middle so close neighbors stay readable. Events are the next dates from our events calendar, as of October 23, 2026, and each date is the organizer's, not confirmed by us. The same places are listed beside the map.
